Gannan Medical University is situated in the city of Ganzhou, in the south of Jiangxi Province. It is a higher institute of medical sciences, under the supervision of Jiangxi Provincial Government. Han Jisheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the honorary president of the university.
The university can trace its history back to April, 1941. With the development for decades, the university has made great contributions to health work and medical education. It has trained more than 20,000 health workers of different levels for the society. Its graduates are now working in many places both at home and abroad. The university has been conferred the title of “Qualified University” by the Education Department of PRC.
The university has six schools: School of Basic Medical Science, First School of Clinical Medicine, Second school of Clinical Medicine, School of Humanity and Social Science, School of Continuing Education and International Education College. The university has 10 departments: Clinical Medicine, Ocular & ENT Science, Anesthesia Science, Nursing Science, Medical Imaging, Public Administration, Sports and Human Body, Physical Education, and Modern Education & Technology etc. Among them there are 36 teaching and research sections, 3 research institutions, 5 general labs. There are all together more than 700 staff members, including 180 with senior titles and more than 350 lecturers. University covers 110,000sq. m. with a building area of139000 sq. m.
The university mainly offers five and a half years courses of Clinical Medicine (MBBS) for foreign students, five years Anesthesia Science, and 4-year courses for the specialties of Public Administration, Nursing Science and the Science of Sports and Human Body. In Clinical Medicine, some students stream to certain specialized areas, such as Wound Surgery, Ocular & ENT Science, Ultrasonic Diagnosis, Imaging Diagnosis, the Science of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Public Administrations includes Hospital Management, Information Management, General Medical Market Management, Laws of Medical Affairs and Medical Insurances. The 3-year courses are for the specialties of Clinical Medicine, School Medicine, Maternity and Childcare, Nursing Science and Stomatology. The School of Continuing Education also offers the above courses for part-time students. It also possesses the right from World Health Organization and Ministry of Education, PR of China to enroll overseas students. At present, the number of students (both full-time and part-time) is about 10,000, coming from over 20 provinces and abroad..
The university has a beautiful campus and good atmosphere for progress. Gannan Medical University is recognized by WHO, UNESCO, CSC, CMC. It teaches the whole courses in English medium with south asian curriculum as well as USMLE/PLAB based exam and teaching styles. Students can do internship all over the world. The University offers bachelor and master programs. The university has a relation /exchange program with universities in USA ,Europe, Japan,Asia,etc. The University has also foreign teachers from abroad, from England, USA.
Affiliated Hospitals: The University has a first general affiliated hospital (for foreign students practice) with more than 1000 sick beds and 48 medical departments and sections, and another two affiliated hospitals and more that than ten hospitals for internship in Ganzhou.There are also more than 80 teaching hospitals in and out of province, engaging more than 350 professors and associate professors, and 350 lecturers.
Research: The University pays much attention to both teaching and scientific research. It has established research units or labs of higher education for medical genetics and pathological dermatology. Pharmacology, ophthalmology, surgery, medical imaging and nuclear medicine are the key courses for construction of the province. Since, the university has undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects of national grade and provincial grade, and 400 of university grade, 20 of which have received provincial awards, 2 have gained national award. The university has compiled more than 50 monographs. More than 1000 theses have been published in the academic journals home and abroad.
The university publishes academic journal, “The Journal of Gannan Medical University”. The newspaper “Gannan Medical University Press” is published and issued at the university is exchanged in national circulation.

• Sixth year is internship year, if students will join internship at XJTU affiliated Hospitals then students will have to pay regular fees for 6th year, if students will join internship at hospitals anywhere else then no need to pay 6th year tuition fee..
• Registration fee should be paid along with application and documents, liaison & management fee must be paid after receiving acceptance letter. Rest of All fees should be paid after student’s arrival at XJU.
• If students decide to transfer or withdraw, the paid fees will not be returned or transferred.
• Hostel fee varies with the floors of hostel building.
• All the fees above are paid in Chinese Yuan (unless specified otherwise).
• Physical Examination, Residence permit, Health insurance, Books, Food, internet and other self expenses are not included in above fees.
